A Few Things I Follow – for now

ON PROCESS
A NO has more value than a YES.
Stacey Mulcahy

Project Manager Math: 8 weeks, 1 developer = 2 weeks, 4 developers.

Iterative graphic design can lead to duct tape development.
Stacey Mulcahy

Developers deadlines get shafted when anyone else blows theirs.
Stacey Mulcahy

The more ridiculous the deadline, the more money will be wasted trying to meet it.
Stacey Mulcahy

Just because I know how to do something, doesn’t mean I should be doing it.
Stacey Mulcahy

Adopt a project taxonomy.

Constant chaos is not an effective motivator.
Stacey Mulcahy

Bad planning on your part, does not constitute an emergency on my part.
Stacey Mulcahy

ON FOCUS
Sometimes, I can’t focus while working on a project, no matter how hard I try. I think, “why is this, too little sleep, too many distractions, am I hungry?”; I finally realized it is because I do not believe in the project I’m working on. A mental audit of all my low-focus projects realized this.

ON ACTIONSCRIPT
If at first you don’t succeed, you probably won’t succeed on the second, third, or fourth attempts. But you might succeed after eight or nine attempts.

Don’t solve every problem. Just most.
Branden Hall

ON REUSABILITY
Building a reusable item or application in Flash isn’t always a good thing. Things move so fast, that by the time you reuse that item a few times, someone else has surpassed it leaving you in legacy dust.

ON GENERAL SUBJECTS
The only constant is change.
Herakleitos

Meaningful innovations require environments that foster it.
